My dad told me as a child I ran out the door to be in nature. With winter showing us the way to hibernate, I’ve been playing with my options to find a source of light. Since wandering outside isn’t happening right now, I am rediscovering the powerful force of opening all of the curtains and window blinds. I find it humorous that I am waiting for a piece to use my light box. The song Open Up Your Heart and Let the Sunshine In reminds me that there is always a way to connect with light.
I am highly encouraging you to consider sunlight as your primary source for vitamin D. Fortunately there are always options with the freedom to choose what is best for you.
Benefits of Vitamin D
Combined with omega 3 and 6 supports serotonin
Regulates calcium levels especially combined with vitamin K2
Supports cells
Supports endocrine system
Sources to Receive Vitamin D
Sunlight 10-30 minutes per day
Vitamin D supplement
Regardless of how you receive vitamin D, build up your reserves for the winter. Be aware of your skin tone color and how that factors in. Since it is classified as a hormone rather than a vitamin, seeking support on how much to take and in what form along with assessing your levels is advisable. Then you can see more of how the body works together.
During this time I am embodying the words of Open Up Your Heart and Let the Sunshine In to face it with a grin. I look forward to connecting with nature in a new way and seeing what it reveals to me.
In light,
Amy
