What diet is compatible with you?

Eating is sacred and brings people together. As individuals nourishing our mind, body, and spirit presents many options. With Halloween candy lingering and the holiday season upon us, food selection is important when planning gatherings. Deciding what to eat daily can be a challenge with numerous diets and books on the market. If you like following a specific diet plan, great!

Where to begin for healthy eating.

  • Which diet? What about food allergies?

  • How can I make good choices with the cost of food on the rise?

  • Where do I buy the food? Local or online?

  • Can I grow my own food? Who can I share and trade food with?

  • When should I prepare the food?

  • Convenience food and/or food prep?

  • My friends and family are not eating what I am eating but I want to be a part of the meal.

We are what we eat. Additionally I believe that we need to harness the clarity that is within our mind, body, and spirit to guide us.

Setting a positive energetic intention while eating to me is just as powerful as selecting food from an article or book. From my librarian perspective books can be a powerful ally and tool to guide us, but we can also be guided by a powerful force within us. Listen carefully and eat according to your individual needs. Pause, take a moment, what are you being called to eat? And while you are eating, be aware of when to finish eating. Being open to receiving nourishment by slowing down and being still as we eat all types of food is very valuable. This process includes eating unhealthy foods because I think that as long as we are beaming with delight, a smile on our face then it is all good. I do not recommend eating unhealthy foods all day everyday, know when to treat yourself in a way that benefits your spirit.

I am not a fan of an all or nothing approach. For example a diet recommending not to eat eggs. I think that the message of not eating something is not a positive or a realistic way to navigate nutrition. When I worked in a library, my goal was helping people find the right book at the right time. This philosophy can apply to eating, finding the right food at the right time. Besides, there is no diet that is right for everybody.

My suggestion is to consider what fuels you like and what fuels your car, you give it what it needs. And always use drinking water as your ally. Sometimes when I think I am hungry I am dehydrated. Prepare and keep water bottles with you to take on the go. And remember the holistic approach is to eat, move, and be happy.

Bright Blessings,

Amy
